100 Favourite Hymns
It's good - Not Great!
This is a good resource.
Great! Very happy !
I should have bought this Humn Collection last year . It has certainly lifted up the spirits of our parishioners who are attending church more frequently now that lockdown is being relaxed . Booklet and its references are so useful . Many thanks!
100 Favourite Hymns
We are finding this CD so helpful whilst we cannot sing in church. It enriches our worship and adds to the prayerfulness and doesn't make us feel bad about not being able to sing ourselves. 'For the beauty of the earth' was lovely at Harvest and we enjoyed doing the traditional actions to 'He's got the whole world...'. The clarity and richness of the female solo vocals are particularly good.
No key to the discs in the box.
I have purchased quite a few box sets from Kevin Mayhew in the past and they all had a booklet in the front to show what was on the cd. This one did not. I phoned customer services, I chatted with customer services and I emailed them. Best they could do was say they can't find my order, and yet here you are asking me to review it. Very unsatisfactory.
Avoid
I had hoped that this would be a useful resource to play hymns in church but this is not possible. Rather than being favourite hymns, some had tunes that were newly composed and therefore unknown and not favourites, most are performed by soloists with various degree of quality which sounds like being at a school concert of sixth formers and they sounded like concert pieces to be listened to rather than some I go to join in with. Only three tracks are useable for my purpose and some tracks should have never made it past quality control with breathing in the middle of words and absolutely awful accompaniments such as the synthesised Jerusalem.
