I did expect a classic leather backed book for that price. The content was indeed very good. However it would have been enormously helpful if we were given the metrical index of tunes
This compact and conveniently spiral-bound volume contains 50 hymns, each with an extended variation, an intonation, its usual harmonization in hymnals, and an interlude which leads into a final stanza/alternate harmonization by June Nixon.
The quality of the composition is what we have come to expect of this composer and church musician, and this collection along with its companion volume 2 are both delightful to play and hear and highly useful.
